Biography

Born February 11, 1942 in the rural community of Waxhaw, Mississippi, Otis was raised in a strong Church communityn n Otis Clay started his career as a gospel singer in Chicago in the mid-60s, but gained fame after switching to soul and R&B a few years later. Over the next decade, he produced a string of hit singles, recorded in Memphis' legendary Muscle Shoals studios.n n His most succsful period was when he switch to the famous produce Willie Mitchell at Hi records.n "Trying to Live My Live without You" reportedly sold half a million copies in 1972.n n Clay started up on his own in 1975 (Echo records) his first release was "Victim of Circumstance"n n A master showman, Otis Clay stays in demand for festival and concert appearances in the U.S., Europe and Japan. n nUser-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License and may also be available under the GNU FDL.
